Condition that a point lies on a line in symmetric form for JEE

Equation of a line; Skew lines, the shortest distance between them and its equation

Formula

\(\frac{x_0-x_1}{a}=\frac{y_0-y_1}{b}=\frac{z_0-z_1}{c}\)

Variables: \((x_0,y_0,z_0)\) is the test point; line is \(\frac{x-x_1}{a}=\frac{y-y_1}{b}=\frac{z-z_1}{c}\).

Conditions: Interpret with care if any of \(a,b,c\) is zero.

Point-line incidence and collinearity checks.
